Pacific Umi Sushi

My wife and I truly believe this is the best sushi restaurant on the central coast. The fish is handled so amazing, you will be pressed to find it fresher anywhere else! The owner is also amazing, the only woman sushi chef I know... Kind of makes me think there should be more! A must eat restaurant.

Always love having sushi here! It's amazing! The owner Miss Young takes great pride in her sushi skills as well as picking the freshest sustainable seafood to make it. It's as beautiful as it tastes! My favorites are the no name 4, ceviche, and sashimi combo

On the way to Santa Barbara we were craving sushi and we decided to try Pacific Umi Sushi. After living in Japan for 4 years, the sushi here doesn't stand out compared to the other reviews.I ordered the Saba, it was fresh and simple. Also, I ordered the Rock n Roll, which has unagi and avocado on top. I don't recall what was inside the roll.My wife ordered the shrimp tempura, she like it and our kids had the chicken popcorn teriyaki. They said it was ok so I tried it. The teriyaki sauce tasted awful. It was thick, similar to molasses.However, the salad portions were larger compared to other Japanese restaurants. Also, they served a tiny amount of kale and about a table spoon of Japchae before the miso soup. The Japchae was delicious, wished they served a larger amount.

This is more than just a restaurant and a sushi place. It is definitely an experience. Every meal is artistically and beautifully prepared. The staff are all very accommodating and professional! The restaurant itself has a very old California eclectic vibe.

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant. The quality of the food is absolutely amazing. It’s delicious, beautiful, and they have awesome service. The overall environment is super chill. Their prices are less then competitors AND their food is better. I love them.

This is my favorite sushi place on the west coast. Slamin salmon is a delight!

At first glance at the menu, it seems like Pacific Umi is a roll house without much sushi. Not so. The menu highlights the mant rolls they make but they make excellent sushi. I ordered a sake which was the style l like, which they didn't have. They suggested a different sake I didn't like. They insisted on replacing it. So bottom line, excellent sushi and service. If you want sushi, sit at the bar and tell them want you want.

I absolutely love this place, you can taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients, the atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, and the service is phenomenal. We have vegetarians in my family and they go above and beyond to make delicious customized menu items to satisfy all. I now live in Colorado but always make sure to eat here when I come back “home” for a visit.

The food tasted very fresh and the menu was a strange combination of what seemed like Mexican and Japanese. Very interesting. I don't know if you would call the seating area cozy or just making the most of a small space. I felt cramped.

We dropped in on Monday 45 min before closing, with kids. They took us no problem, everyone nice and friendly. A very homey, cozy place, charmingly rustic, and the food is about perfect. Both the sushi and the hot dishes. Easily rivals our favorite New York sushi places.If you are in Pizmo, definitely worth a visit!

Good experience. When you first walk in you may be decieved by the small shake like restraunt, but once inside you'll find a clean dining area with good food. Although not the most amazing sushi experience for me, it was good quality and yummy. Nice rolls and menu options and I would probably recommend this place based on the alternatives in the area. If you are craving sushi, visit Umi.

Great sushi place! Compared to Sushi 805 and a few other similar places in the area, I would now go here every time. Almost solely because they give you a little starter dish, which the others I've been to haven't done. The food at all of these places is all delicious, so don't worry about that. The staff was friendly and happy to answer questions! Definitely will return!

Great sushi, very fresh but a bit expensive. I ordered the "slow your roll" as an appetizer, which was a spring roll with shrimp, avocado and tomatoes, served with a creamy serrano pepper and cilantro sauce. The sauce and roll were good but not exceptional. The roll was too much like a Chinese egg roll and I prefer rice paper for a lighter and crisper roll. I ordered the "Salmon and Garfunkel roll. The roll was filled with tempura salmon, beans, capers, unagi and topped with a lemon caper sauce and a zigzag of that nasty brown sweet soy sauce. As you can tell, I hate that sweet sauce and the roll would have been so much better without it. The place is cute but the seating is uncomfortable and the tables are flimsy, they wobble if you apply any pressure to them. The service was ok, somewhat attentive.

Not the best I've had, service was BLAH, like the personality on our waitress. The wait to get our food was longer than usual, I think it's done purposely to keep you drinking. It's a nice spot, outside seating is relaxing, but there's no good views. We'll keep looking! Oh!! The oyster WAS on point!!!

Absolutely the best sushi restaurant in the area.. my friend took me there for the first time today and I was just in Tokyo 2 weeks ago and this restaurant is better than Tokyo. The food and the Ambiance is truly amazing and just like a little restaurant in downtown Tokyo only better.
